Installing Avidemux
Go to avidemux.sourceforge.net/download.html and find the download for your operating system, then click on "FossHub", which will download the setup wizard. Run the Setup Wizard, agree to the licensing agreement, choose where you want your shortcut to added, then click and after it's done, click
and open the program from the shortcut you set up earlier.
Setting up the video and audio output
The default setting for each output "copy", which will export them in the original format your files were imported in. To change this, click on the video and audio output and select your format. It is recommended that you change your general output as well.
Importing your clips to the editor
You can click (Open Video) and choose your files there, or just drag and drop your files from your file browser. After your clips load, they will show up on the timeline, ordered from most recently added, or in alphabetical order if you imported more at the same time. You can also go to File > Append to add more clips at the end if one is already loaded.
Splitting your clips
Set the timeline to the moment when the part you want to remove from your clip starts, then click on (Set Start Marker). Afterwards, set your timeline to the moment when you want the removed part to end, then click on
(Set End Marker) followed by pressing Ctrl + x. Note that you can set the start and end markers in any order.
Cropping your clips
Go to in the Video Output tab, double-click on the "Crop" filter, then, after the Crop window opens, you can trim the sides of your clip by clicking the up and down arrows on each direction on the top-left of the window. In order to go back to a standard resolution after cropping, go back to the filter selection, then double-click on "swsResize". After the window opens, make sure that "Lock Aspect Ratio" is disabled, then set the width and height to the resolution you want your output to have.
Adding subtitles to your video
Go to in the Video Output tab, then to the "Subtitles" page and double-click the "SSA" filter. Once the new window opens, chose your SSA, ASS or SRT file, which Avidemux will convert automatically to SSA, then set the font size to the one you want and click "ok".
Exporting your finished video
Click on (Save Video), choose a title and where you want your video to save, then click "Save". Your video will start encoding. Afterwards, your exported video will appear in the file you chose to save it in.
